I am looking for 1-2 PhD students for Spring and Fall 2024 to work on computational methods and software for power system simulation at North Carolina State University. Students will work on models and methods for accelerating numerical simulations of large-scale power systems.
The ideal candidates are those with a master’s degree in Electrical Engineering and have (1) a solid understanding of power system transient and dynamics, in addition to numerical methods, (2) a strong understanding of computing, and (3) a string interest in tinkering with and utilizing the latest computing software and hardware techniques. Desired but not required background includes control theory, algorithms, and open-source software.
Interested students should email me at hcui9@ncsu.edu with the subject “PhD RA application – power system simulation”. Please include your CV and a letter describing your specific research interest in this topic, and provide evidence for your programming and mathematical skills.
